Giant Bull Ant (Myrmecia gulosa), Red Bull Ant oder "Hoppy Joe"
Dieses beeindruckende Ameisen-Exemplar scheint geradezu prädestiniert für Hollywood B-Movies Marke "Angriff der Killerameisen". Sowas wie die europäische Rote Waldameise vernascht dieses Ungetüm zum Frühstück.
Ich hatte für diese Aufnahme mein Macro-Objektiv nicht zur Hand, deshalb ist das Bild ein Crop. Man kann vielleicht sagen "zum Glück", denn das Kerlchen hatte mich während der ganzen Aufnahme genau im Visier und ich habe erst hinterher zu Hause herausgefunden wie diese Insekten genannt werden und "Hoppy Joe" kommt offenbar nicht von ungefähr.
